YOGOS

THE WORLD’S FINEST
BLUE SAPPHIRE
Our Yogo Sapphires are
"all natural and untreated". They are famous for their clarity,
brilliance, and cornflower blue color.
The History
of the Yogo Sapphire
They were tiny
crystals born in the fiery depths of the earth, some fifty million years ago,
of aluminum oxide with traces of iron and titanium, responsible for the
characteristic cornflower blue sapphire. Through processes of nature, the blue
gems were fixed in time and place, far beneath the surface, with in the
subterranean dike in the Little Belt Mountains, of central Montana. There they
would remain until the forces of erosion uncovered the sapphire bearing rock.
Jake Hoover is
credited with the discovery of the Yogo Sapphire in 1896. Jake, a hunter and
trapper, once a partner to Montana’s cowboy-artist Charlie Russell. There is
little argument that the Yogo System is a premier deposit, hosting the finest
precious gemstone in North America. An all natural stone, for those with
discerning taste, unsurpassed in rarity, beauty, and value. Yogo Sapphires are
not only a precious gemstone, but a piece of Montana history.
At Fox Fine Jewelers we have a
great selection of Yogo rings, pendants, earrings and bracelets.
We also carry
a great selection of loose Yogos in large sizes and different shapes.
